ENTRY PERIOD: 7/15/20 to 8/26/20 -- ENDED: Stay tuned for our next contest!
Official Rules
READING PERIOD: 8/28/2020 to 8/31/2020 Finalists will be announced to give the community time to read, discuss & share qualified entries.
Bardsy is a supportive online community. We ask that commentators strive to be constructive and kind. Our staff reserves the unilateral right to remove comments we view as counterproductive.
JUDGING: on or about 9/1/2020 The winner will be notified and announced.
Prize
The Dreamcatcher - $345
Write a short story of 1200-3000 words about dreams. As always, interpret the prompt in any way you wish. You can explore a specific dream, dreams in general, how a dream impacted a character, or how life impacted a dream. The only thing we ask of you is to avoid cliches, such as having a whole story be a dream, with the character waking up at the end. Too easy!

The winner will be awarded the Dreamcatcher, $345, and a free, six-month placement in our Elite Writers' Program. The winning author will also be showcased on the site, and their story & bio may be featured in other promotions (pursuant to terms and conditions).

The prize will be awarded to the story that in the view of our judge(s) nurtures the readers' interest while demonstrating the principles of good storytelling, as presented in our self-paced course: BETTER STORYTELLING.

The judge(s) will also take the enthusiasm expressed toward the story during the reading period into account.

SUBMISSION:
All submissions must be original, previously unpublished work of the author; entered only through procedures detailed above; between 1,200 and 3,000 words in length and in English.

Bardsy, Inc. retains the right to disqualify stories that have content considered actually or potentially objectionable in the view of any of our judge(s) or staff, without exception or explanation. Examples include, but are not limited to, violence or sex we consider gratuitous or inappropriate, intellectual property violation, invasion of privacy, publicity or disparagement of people or places, or content we view as actually or potentially objectionable for any reason. We are not obligated to screen for or identify any such matter and do not assure we will identify or disqualify an entry on the above grounds.
ADDITIONAL RULES Authors retain ownership of their work. By submitting an entry, you grant Bardsy unlimited, non-exclusive, royalty free, perpetual publication and promotion rights to the story, and use of your name and likeness, in any and all media of Bardsy’s choice. Bardsy will have the right, even if we do not exercise the right, at any time(s) to make edits, publish and/or promote portions or abridged versions of the story, and the right to include or omit reference to the author. Bardsy may be willing, but will not be obligated, to comply with author’s request to publish, cease publication, edit or modify the story or author name.
